Course Objectives:

To understand the basic chemistry of life processes
To understand cell structure and function
To understand how the human body is organized
To understand homeostasis
To understand how human body systems function
To appreciate the role of ethics in biomedical experimentation
To have an opportunity to discuss common human diseases and modes of treatment

There will be three exams (each valued at 15% of the final grade), a cumulative final exam (30%) as well as a research paper (20%). Students may select any topic related to human biology for the research paper however the topic must be approved by the instructor. Class participation will count for 5% of the final grade. Students are required to attend all lectures and exams.
