REPORT ON THE NEW ACADEMIC BUILDING For the May 12, 2004 FA Meeting
by Eddie Saiff

SNS Architects of Montvale, NJ have spent hundreds of hours meeting with our planning task force including Dick Roberts as well as other interested parties to understand the programmatic needs for our new academic building. As you know the building includes classrooms, offices, computer labs, auditoriums and suites for our international and study abroad programs. Several weeks ago the architects produced the program document for the building. The planning task force will meet with the architects in a few weeks to continue the planning process and we will meet throughout the summer. We are hoping that a donor will step forward to help pay for the new building.

Part of the project involves refurbishing the G building. We are at the early stages of understanding the dimensions of this part of the project. Another part of the project is a ground level greenhouse.

Of course there is a great deal more design work to do including landscaping, pedestrian and vehicular circulation patterns, and how the new building will relate to the rest of the academic complex.
