Academic Structure Exploratory
Committee (ASEC)
Request for Input
Message forwarded from Brian Lofman, Co-Chair ASEC
The Academic Structure Exploratory Committee (ASEC) will be holding an open forum for faculty on Wednesday, January 21 from 10:30 to 12:30 in B-114. We are
interested in perceived advantages and disadvantages of the current academic
structure (Schools, convening groups, etc.) and related issues from faculty
perspectives. The time available for speaking will depend partly on the number
of faculty in attendance and the content (proposal, commentary, etc.).
Please let me know if you plan to attend on January 21 so that we can guage
how many faculty will be in attendance. Additionally, let me know if you
have a request as to how much time you will need if you plan to present a
concrete idea or make substantial comments. The Committee and the larger
community would greatly appreciate it if you could put your ideas in writing
as some faculty have already done (http://phobos.ramapo.edu/facassem/asecpage.html).
This will assist the Committee as we continue to deliberate.
Many additional opportunities for input and participation will be available
during the Spring term, such as during In-Service Day activities, in Unit
Council Meetings, and at Faculty Assembly Meetings. Some forums will allow
direct discussions with or presentations to the Committee or its representatives,
such as the forum on January 21.
Sincerely,
Brian Lofman
ASEC CoChair
