Academic Structure Exploratory Committee (ASEC)

NEW!!  Results of ASEC POLL:

One hundred and three (103) responses to the ASEC Poll were received by and read on July 6, 2004.  They were counted and read by Susan Eisner, Kay Fowler, George Gongpu, Susan Hangen, Ellen Kaiden, and Babs Varano.  The quantitative results were as follows:

“I generally support the recommendations in the ASEC 5/17 Final Report” :50 Yes (49%):  39  No  (38%); 14 abstentions (13%)
Twenty-six of the ballots provided additional narrative comments. See below for a description of the process used to analyze narrative comments, as well as a summary of the key themes that emerged from the narrative comments.  The narrative comments themselves (by category) are available as a single document.  Finally the original comments retained in their original format are provided as raw data in individual files below  (Note -- there seems to be a problem with the pdf files which I hope to get fixed as soon as possible!).

See Material below for useful information: ASEC final reports ; back up documents and data including Institutional Profile information, and the Powerpoint presentation ASEC made to the May 24 p.m. Faculty Assembly.  My thanks to ASEC for providing all this helpful information.

Poll Results and Comments:  (To be posted after July 1, 2004.)

Note:  I want to very clearly distinguish the website postings on the ASEC final report between Poll responses (to be posted altogether and anonymously after 7/1/04) and faculty individual statements on the final report (posted as requested on an ongoing basis in June and not anonymously). The "signed" Faculty Statements posted below are not from the ASEC Poll.
