Proposed Process for Dean Evaluation
(From Dean's Evaluation Committee, Cherie Sherman, Chair.  Dated 05/05/04)

The Dean Evaluation process will be implemented annually in April starting in Spring 2005 using forms prepared by Institutional Research (IR).

The forms used will be the Deans Evaluation Form as approved by Faculty Assembly in May 2004.

All faculty assembly members residing in the unit of the Dean under evaluation will have the opportunity to complete the form and to submit them to Institutional Research by one week prior to the April Unit Council .

Institutional Research will provide  a statistical summary of the form data as well as copies of the raw forms simultaneously to the Dean and to the Provost.

The Dean approves the statistical summary, acknowledging that it is an accurate and complete summary of the raw forms.  In addition the Dean may if s/he wishes submit a written response to the evaluation to the unit and/or to the Provost.

The Provost will not use the evalution as a binding document regarding a dean's appointment/reappointment but rather as one form of input

IR provides a statistical summary of the form data to the unit council at the May meeting.
