Reminder! Faculty Assembly meets at 1:30 tomorrow and ends at 3:30 in SC136-138.

Since our last meeting we have lost a dear colleague in Ron Brady of AIS. He will be sorely missed. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends.

The Faculty Advisory Council met last week with incoming Provost Sandy Pfeiffer and had an excellent initial meeting.

Other meetings have been going on regarding the creation of Data Standards for the new Banner system, the roll out of the Luminis system in conjunction with the Banner system, the development of Phase IX housing (which you will hear reports on at Faculty Assembly), etc. Further details on all of these agenda items will be coming to the faculty over the next month or so.

Nominations for Faculty Advisory Council will close at the meeting and those nominated will introduce themselves and speak briefly at the faculty assembly. Their comments will then be uploaded to the faculty assembly site for people to review again. Elections will be held by mail. Ballots will be distributed by Monday, Apr. 21 and are due back to Barbara Trottere by Apr. 28. Two seats are open. Amruth Kumar has finished his term and is not running again. Ellen Kaiden has finished her first term and is running again. The remaining nominees of which I have been told to date are (in alphabetical order) Daniela Buna, TAS, Mark Howenstein, AIS, Sam Rosenberg, SSHS, and Robert Shine, TAS.

Honors Convocation, 3 p.m., April 23

The Fantastiks, directed by Mary Ellen Allison will be running in the Sharp Theater from April 24-26, 30 and May 1-3, 8 p.m.

The campus community is invited to a reception and screening of CA Prof. Marta Bautis' film, Nicaragua: the children are waiting... on Tuesday, April 29th. Reception at 5 pm Berrie Center Lobby. Screening at 6 pm Sharp Theater. This screening is co-sponsored by the Organization of Latin Unity as part of Latin Heritage Month. This film was recently shown in Cuba as part of the International New Latin American Cinema Festival and shown also in NY at the Latin American Cinema Festival of New York.

Fourteenth Annual Jack Richardson Memorial Award to be presented Wednesday, May 7, 2003 in SC 138 from 4-6 PM.

AIS Colloquium Series hosts Joy Harjo, Muscogee (Creek) poet and musician, Sharp Theater, 7 p.m., May 7

Note: The next Faculty Assembly meeting is during inservice days: 5/22 from 10-12 in the Pavilion (note the change in venue!) this will be followed by a faculty luncheon and in-service activities in the afternoon. The agenda for the in-service activities will be announced in the next few weeks.

Commencement is May 23 and the campus Events Committee has been working hard on the design for Commencement to ensure a short, and wonderful event. More details on commencement will be available by the next Faculty Assembly.
