Teacher Education and American Studies

Students who major in American Studies are attractive teacher candidates at the elementary and secondary education levels. The ability to think across disciplines and incorporate both evidence and interpretation from many perspectives are important teaching skills that American Studies students are particularly well prepared for.

If you are interested in attaining either an elementary school certification or a secondary Social Studies certification, please contact the Teacher Education Office to set up an appointment. You will need to have and maintain a 2.75 GPA overall and in your major.
