Math Club Meetings

Fall 2007:

Meetings during the Fall 2007 semester are every two weeks and will take place on Mondays

For Prospective Members

You're most welcome to join our meetings at any point in the semester, whether you are a math major or not, with no obligation to attend every meeting.

A mass email about the club's meeting date, time, location and agenda is sent out to all math majors and possibly some related majors (computer science, physics, bioinformatics)  a few days before each meeting, as well as to the Math Club mailing/members list. If you would like to be included on the mailing/members list, please contact the club secretary.

At every meeting we welcome new ideas for discussion and new ideas for the club activities that would enhance the club and the quality of the Ramapo College Mathematics Major.

___ 10/08/07  Dr. Ken McMurdy gives a Math Club talk on "Curve Sketching in Projective Plane"

___ 11/05/07  A senior actuarial analyst from ISO gives a talk on "Becoming an Actuary".

___11/03/07 (Saturday) Possible Math Club trip to MAA-NJ mathematics conference for mathematics faculty and students. http://phobos.ramapo.edu/~pweng/MAANJ/ . Activities: interesting talks by famous mathematician guest speakers, lunch discussion tables, book exhibits, information tables, silent auction, door prizes.

___February 2008 (Saturday)  Possible Math Club trip to Moravian College Student Mathematics Conference in Bethlehem, PA. Conference activities: interesting talk by a famous mathematician guest speaker, undergraduate student talks on their research projects.  http://math.moravian.edu/conference/

___ March 2008 (Saturday)  Math Club trip to MAA-NJ mathematics conference for mathematics faculty and students. Mathematics Help Sessions, Fall 2007

Math club members offer INFORMAL help sessions for students taking a variety of upper level mathematics courses. You are welcome to drop by if you need help or let us know you'd like to become one of our tutors. Disclaimer: The tutors are volunteer math club members and have not been designated nor tested by the faculty to participate at these help sessions.

Room:  G119.

Note: the tutor will leave after 30 minutes if there are no students asking for help.

 Ivana Nikolic, Jenna Hart, Emily Migliore, Jennifer West, Christine Caradonio:  Real Analysis (Group Study/Tutoring). Tuesdays 12:30-1:00.

An opportunity to tutor mathematics, Fall 2007 and Spring 2008

Beginning October 15th, 2007 you may participate in tutoring mathematics to middle school students at a local community center. Click here for details.

In Spring 2008 the tutoring center runs on Mondays and Wednesdays only.
