| Tutorials Calendar Self-Assessment My Ramapo Quick Reference Guide My Ramapo Login |
My Ramapo allows calendar sharing, and allows you to customize the permissions for individual users, as well as all users. You can also add more than one owner to your calendar. Once I allow an individual to share my calendar, they can subscribe to my calendar and will have access to whatever permissions I have given them. This can be a powerful tool that can needs to be fully understood.
Once the calendar is open, click on the "Calendars" tab to display the list of all your calendars. You can share any of your calendars that display the "edit" link in the right column. Click on "edit".
This window will open, which provides the following options:
1. You can give others access to this calendar by giving them the link under "Calendar Address." They can then use it in their browsers to view this calendar, provided that access control is set to give them access. You can simply e-mail this link to them.
2. "Permissions" tab and "Owners" tab are explained below.
"Permissions" determine how others can see and change this calendar. This includes permission to check your availability, invite you to events, read, delete and modify your calendar.
1. To give certain permissions to all users, select the appropriate permissions from the columns next to "Everybody." In this example, everyone can check my availability and invite me. But nobody can read, delete or modify my calendar. This is the default setting, which you can change if you choose.
2.To give certain permissions to individuals, enter their user ID in the User field and click "Add User". Then select the appropriate permissions from the columns next to the user's name. See below.
In this example, I have given user "dsinger" the ability to "read" my calendar. This provides the permission to read the calendar details just as I can read them. However, no permission was given to delete or modify my calendar. You need to decide what level of permission to provide to individual users. You may have the need to share calendars with coworkers, including delete or modify privileges. Be careful in selecting calendar permissions, as you are giving others the ability to access "your" calendar from "their" account.
Note: User dsinger can now "subscribe" to my calendar and read it. The subscribe step needs to be done by dsinger on her account. See tutorial on subscribing to calendars for more information on this.
You may add one or more owners for a calendar. An owner has the ability to act on your behalf to reply to invitations, and to create, modify, and delete events. There may be a time where you create a calendar and want to have multiple owners so the calendar can be completely managed by more than one person. An owner has full rights to the calendar.
1. To add an owner, add their user name in the "owner name" text field.
2. Click "Add Owner."
Note: If you add an owner, they can now "subscribe" to this calendar. The subscribe step needs to be done on their account. See tutorial on subscribing to calendars for more information on this.
