Arthur M. Felix was born in New York City and educated in the public schools there. He specialized in chemistry at New York University, receiving the Chemistry Alumni Club Annual Award. He was awarded his Ph.D. from the Polytechnic Institute of New York in 1964 where he was an N.I.H. Predoctoral Fellow. From 1964-1966 he was an N.I.H. Postdoctoral Fellow with Prof. E.J. Corey at Harvard University.
Dr. Felix, Distinguished Research Leader and Head of the Peptide Research Department, was associated with Hoffmann-La Roche Inc., in Nutley, N.J. from 1966 until his retirement in 1995. From 1968-1969 he held a concurrent position as a Guest Investigator at Rockefeller University under Prof. Bruce Merrifield. Dr. Felix has also been an Adjunct Professor of Chemistry at Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck, N.J.) and Hunter College (New York City). Dr. Felix was an Assistant Professor at William Paterson College (Department of Chemistry & Physics, Wayne, NJ) from 1995-1997. He is currently an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ramapo College of New Jersey (School of Theoretical and Applied Sciences, Mahwah, NJ ) and is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Piscataway, NJ).
