Earth Science Teacher Certification
In addition to the Teacher Education Curriculum, 30 credits are required in the discipline.
The specific requirements for Earth Science are:
Required courses:
- Either GEOL 105 Fundamentals of Geology or GEOL 101 Introduction to Geology
- Either GEOL 326 Paleontology or GEOL 333 Environmental Geology
Elective courses:
Electives should include one (or more) courses at the 200 level, and must include two (or more) at the 300 level.
- GEOG 101 Physical Geography
- PHYS 103 Introduction to Astronomy
- PHYS 105 Meteorology
- ENSC 103 Introduction to Environmental Science
- ENST 215 Environmental History
- Either GEOL 326 Paleontology or GEOL 333 Environmental Geology (one is required, so you could take both of these)
- GEOL 327 Geology of New Jersey
- GEOG 303 Water Resources
- ENST 314 GIS
- ENST 360 Oceanography
- ENSC 331 Computer Modeling: Environmental Science
- ENSC 340 Environmental Chemistry
- ENSC 405 Global Climate Change
