Earth Science Teacher Certification

In addition to the Teacher Education Curriculum, 30 credits are required in the discipline.

The specific requirements for Earth Science are:

Electives should include one (or more) courses at the 200 level, and must include two (or more) at the 300 level.

  • GEOG 101 Physical Geography
  • PHYS 103 Introduction to Astronomy
  • PHYS 105 Meteorology
  • ENSC 103 Introduction to Environmental Science
  • ENST 215 Environmental History
  • Either GEOL 326 Paleontology or GEOL 333 Environmental Geology (one is required, so you could take both of these)
  • GEOL 327 Geology of New Jersey
  • GEOG 303 Water Resources
  • ENST 314 GIS
  • ENST 360 Oceanography
  • ENSC 331 Computer Modeling: Environmental Science
  • ENSC 340 Environmental Chemistry
  • ENSC 405 Global Climate Change
