101 - Introduction to Geology
Description
This course will provide an
introduction to the geological sciences,
covering geological materials and processes, and including an
historical background. We will also look at the practical applications
of geology to everyday life, and its relevance to other sciences and
social sciences.
Includes a fieldtrip and lab
exercises.
Target
audience
- Environmental
Studies majors:
fulfills 100-level Earth Science requirement (alternatives: GEOL 105
Fundamentals of Geology, GEOG 101 Physical Geography).
- Environmental
Science majors and minors:
must take GEOL
105
Fundamentals of Geology instead.
- General
Education Science requirement: fulfills the 100-level Gen. Ed.
introductory science requirement.
- Earth
Science teacher
certification: fulfills 100-level Earth Science
requirement
(although the lab course [GEOL 105
Fundamentals of Geology] is preferred).

None.
