Valley
View along the valley. The white areas on the valley floor are salt flats. Badwater is directly below (on the left of the photo). Alluvial fans are clearly seen on the left hand wall of the valley. The rocks on the left, in the middle ground, are folded into V-shapes.

Badwater is directly below; this fan is the one we could see on our left as we walked out over the salt flats. The road is visible near the outer edge of the fan.
Fault
Alluvial fan on the far side of the valley. Towards the valley floor, the fan has a sharp escarpment, below which the individual channels across the fan can not be traced. This is a fault - the ground closest to us has dropped relative to the ground on the far side of the fault,
