Course Objectives:

• To understand scientific concepts and processes
• To understand the basic chemistry of life processes
• To understand how the human body is organized and functions
• To evaluate ethical issues relevant to human biology
• To have an opportunity to discuss common human diseases and modes of treatment
• To critically read and evaluate popular articles about human biology
  
  

There will be four exams (each valued at 20% of the final grade), as well as a research paper (20%) due on November 30, 2009. Students may select any topic related to human biology for the research paper; however, the topic must be approved by the instructor. Students are required to attend all lectures and exams. Students MUST read the assigned chapter(s) BEFORE each lecture.
