COMM263 Digital Imaging

Course Description

Throughout the semester, students will develop an in-depth understanding of digital imagery from the technical ability to create and manipulate digital imagery to its historical and current uses. We will pay careful attention to the application of style to images, and to the interaction of form and content. Students will complete a series of technical exercises and creative assignments, culminating in a final creative portfolio.

Course Objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to: take photographs with a digital camera under natural light and in the studio; color and tone correct those photographs; use Adobe PhotoShop to manipulate the content of photographs; understand current trends in creative image-making; understand how to apply style to an image; how to effectively communicate an idea using the tools learned in this course
