BIO
Dr.
Jillian T. Weiss has a J.D. and a Ph.D. in Law, Policy & Society.
Currently Professor of Law and Society at Ramapo College of New Jersey,
her research area is gender identity and law. She has authored many
academic publications, presentations and other scholarly works, as well
as articles and interviews for media organizations including The New
York Times and Associated Press.
Dr.
Weiss serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Lambda Legal, the
oldest and largest U.S. national legal organization, whose mission is
to safeguard and advance the civil rights of lesbians, gay men,
bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact
litigation, education and policy work. She is also a member of The
Williams Institute Advisory Board, an LGBT rights think-tank at UCLA
Law School, and former member of the Board of Advisors of the National
Center for Transgender Equality. She is a member of the National LGBT Bar
Association, and Chair of the Planning Committee for its annual
Transgender Law Institute.
As
principal of Jillian T. Weiss & Associates, she has provided
consulting services for private and public employers addressing issues
of gender transition in the workplace, including Harvard University,
Boeing and New York City. The Law Offices of Jillian T. Weiss provide
legal representation for transgender people in employment
discrimination cases involving gender identity and gender expression
discrimination.
Dr. Weiss blogs at The Bilerico Project, a blog of LGBT politics and
culture.
