Bioinformatics and Biological Computing at Weizmann Intstitute of Science
The Bioinformatics Center at Rensselaer and Wadsworth"The Bioinformatics Center at Rensselaer and Wadsworth focuses its work on collaboration and training in a rapidly developing new field of biological science - Bioinformatics. It unites the world renowned specialists in the field of bioinformatics and facilitates joint research, recruitment of scientists, and education of future Bioinformatics specialists.
Bioinformatics.Org: The Open LabThe Open Lab is a not-for-profit foundation established to sponsor open collaborations in research and software development in the scientific field of computational biology. Claims to stand firmly on the conviction that science is for the sake of science and not to be influenced by political and economic forces.
Bioinformatics at the NIH
Biomedical Information Science and Technology Initiative (BISTI). Source of information about Biomedical Computing at the National Institutes of Health.
 Biotechnology: An Information Resource
Provides access to selected sources, services and publications covering many aspects of agricultural biotechnology.
BMERC: Biomolecular Engineering Research Center
This server has two major research objectives: to develop statistical and other computational approaches which will detect syntactic and semantic patterns in DNA, RNA, and protein sequences; and to use statistical/computational approaches to identify structure, function, and regulation in these molecules.
CBS: Center for Biological Sequence Analysis
The overall goal of the research is to obtain knowledge of a limited part of the information processing which takes place in the cell: the complex relations between sequence composition - the content and order of the chemical building blocks - and macromolecular structure and function. In addition, the research is aimed at creating entirely new possibilities in the study of evolutionary processes by comparison of sequence patterns across species.
Center for Bioinformatics
Provides an academic base for continuing research and education in this nascent field.
Computational Biosciences
Addresses fundamental questions in the life sciences and provides information and analytical resources to the wider biology research community.
Computational Centers at NIH
Links to Helix systems, Frederick Biomedical Supercomputing center, National Center for Biotechnology Information.
CUBIC
Columbia University Bioinformatics center services PredictProtein, META, PredictNLS, and EVA.
EMBLl Outstation European Bioinformatics Institute
The EMBL- European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI) is a center for research and services in bioinformatics. The Institute manages databases of biological data including nucleic acid, protein sequences and macromolecular structures.
EMBL: European Molecular Biology Laboratory
EMBL was founded with a four-fold mission: to conduct basic research in molecular biology, to provide essential services to scientists in its member states, to provide high-level training to its staff, students, and visitors, and to develop new instrumentation for biological research.
FGR: Fungal Genome Resource
The Fungal Genome Resource is a repository of information and services to assist the fungal genomics community.
GIRI: Genetic Information Research Institute
The mission is to understand biological processes, which alter the genetic makeup of different organisms, as a basis for potential gene therapy and genome engineering techniques.
Institut Pasteur
The Pasteur Institute is one of the world's leading research centers.
LBNLl-Human Genome Center
Focused on three main areas: support, software development, research into gene finding and sequence analysis methods.
LabOnWeb
Life science research engine. A collection of gene discovery tools designed to accelerate work in the lab, improve the quality and accuracy of experiments, simplify the delivery of information and help researchers make more informed decisions throughout the discovery process.
Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry
Research at the institute focuses on studies of the relationship between the structure and the activity of biological systems with various degrees of complexity, i.e. nucleic acids as carriers of the genetic information and proteins or peptides as structural components of the three-dimensional organization of the cell. Their folding and function is likewise the subject of the research such as cell organelles, membranes, viruses, oncogenes, archaebacteria, higher cells and whole organisms.
NCBI: National Center for Biotechnology Information
A national resource for molecular biology information, NCBI creates public databases, conducts research in computational biology, develops software tools for analyzing genome data, and disseminates biomedical information - all for the better understanding of molecular processes affecting human health and disease.
Sanger Centre
A research center established jointly by the Wellcome Trust and the British Medical Research Council to provide a major focus in the UK for mapping and sequencing the human genome, and genomes of other organisms.
SIB: Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics
The goals of this institute are: to promote the development of software tools and databases in the field of bioinformatics; to sustain a high-quality research program in bioinformatics; to provide, in collaboration with academic partners, a curriculum of courses and seminars for the formation of research scientists in the field of bioinformatics; to offer services to the Swiss scientific user community through the Swiss-EMBnet node (which is currently maintained jointly by Swiss Institute for Cancer Research and the University of Geneva).
