GENERAL INFORMATION
|
Bioinformatics Links Directory
Features curated links to molecular resources, tools and databases. All of the resources are well tested and are either free or available for a nominal fee. The links listed in this directory are selected on the basis of recommendations from bioinformatics experts in the field. All links contained in the NAR Webserver issue since 2003 are also listed. |

DOGS:
Database Of Genome Sizes
The ultimate goal is
to compile a list of all the known organisms and their
respective genome sizes. Both the completed and estimated
genomes are listed.
|
|
Entrez Gene
A searchable database of genes, from RefSeq genomes, and defined by sequence and/or located in the NCBI Map Viewer.
|
|
GenBank
GenBank is the NIH
genetic sequence database, an annotated collection of all
publicly available DNA and amino acid sequences.
|
|
GSDB:
The Genome Sequence Database
A database of
publicly available nucleotide sequences and their associated
annotation that NCGR maintains for use in collaborations and
internal research, and for the purpose of providing general,
public access to the data.
|
|
Gene Ontology Database
The Gene Ontology project provides a controlled vocabulary to describe gene and gene product attributes in any organism.
|
|
GOA: Gene Ontology Annotation Database
Provides assignments of gene products to the Gene Ontology resource.
|
|
NCBI: National Center for Biotechnology Information
Established in 1988 as a national resource for
molecular biology information, NCBI creates
public databases, conducts research in
computational biology, develops software
tools for analyzing genome data, and
disseminates biomedical information - all for
the better understanding of molecular
processes affecting human health and
disease.
|
|
NCBI_dbGSS:
Database of "Genome Survey Sequences"
The GSS division
contains (but is not limited to) the following types of
data: random "single pass read" genome survey sequences,
cosmid/BAC/YAC end sequences, exon trapped genomic
sequences, Alu PCR sequences.
|
|
NCBI_PCR
PCR-based sequence tagged
sites (STSs) have been used as landmarks for construction of
various types of genomic maps. Using "electronic PCR"
(e-PCR), these sites can be detected in DNA sequences,
potentially allowing their map locations to be
determined.
|
|
RHDB:
RADIATION HYBRID DATABASE
RHdb is a database of raw
data used in constructing radiation hybrid maps. This
includes STS data, scores, experimental conditions, and
extensive cross references.
|
|
The
Genome Channel
A tool for the
comprehensive sequence-based view of genomes.
|
|
The Molecular Biology Database Collection of NAR (Nucleic Acids Research)
The Nucleic Acids Research Molecular Biology Database Collection is a public online resource that lists the databases described in the issues of Nucleic Acids Research together with other databases of value to the biologist and available throughout the world. All databases included in this Collection are freely available to the public.

THE
SANGER CENTRE
The Sanger Centre is a
genome research center founded by the Wellcome Trust and the
Medical Research Council. Purpose is to further the
knowledge of genomes, particularly through large scale
sequencing and analysis.
