Course description:

This course is designed to explore the knowledge and competencies needed to develop and apply innovative technologies in classroom and laboratory settings. Students will cover in more depth various teaching/learning strategies such as computer-based learning environments, the use of multimedia, and the use of distributed instructional strategies rotating through three core Centers covering content in the use of video, interactive learning, and web page development.

Course Objectives

Course goals:

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

 1. Analyze the major trends and issues pertinent to the use of technology in higher education.

 2. Analyze the use of various innovative technologies to meet individual learning styles and needs of learners.

 3. Apply concepts of computer-based learning to support instructional activities.

 4. Analyze the requirements of teachers and learners in the use of Web-based information.

 5. Demonstrate problem-solving skills necessary to assess and integrate Web-based information in a format to support learners’ needs.

 

Course Requirements

Introduction:

Evidence of learning will be accomplished in the following ways:

 

Requirements:

1. Annotated bibliography on textbooks and periodicals on a specific hardware/software application- 25%

2. Develop a Program Curriculum with Implementation Strategies and Evaluation Plan relative to students work setting and or interest (NEDU 5302)  

   (December 13)-25%

3. Discussion postings/web-based assignments-25%

4. Overall participation and demonstration of knowledge gained through demonstration of innovative teaching approaches-25%

1) To gain a general overview on what will be taught and how it will be taught 2) To challenge yourselves to think of technology (and teaching it) in completely different, stress free ways

 

Topics:

* Fill in the blanks... *Who was John Dewey? *What does "School of Rock" have to do with this?

 

Assignments:

Begin identifying what specific topics you would be interested in exploring in greater detail during the course of this semester and research as much as you can on what Microsoft Vista is and what it can do.

Research what Microsoft Vista is and what its capabilities will be. Write about how you anticipate that it will change what you are currently doing.
