Graduate Assistant - Evening & Weekend Campus Programming
Position Description: Assists in the planning, implementation and
evaluation of such college wide programs as:
* Welcome Week* 25th Anniversary Celebration (s)
* Fall Fest* African Ancestry Month
* Women's Herstory Month* International Week
* Greek Week* Senior Week
* Latino Heritage Month* Other special projects as assigned
The Graduate Assistant will work closely with all staff and services
that make up the office of Student Development:
* New Student Orientation
* Student Activities
* Greek Life
* International Student Services
* The Women's Center
* The Student Center
* Student Development programs: including leadership development and
a student Development Transcript program
In addition, the graduate Assistant will work closely with the
offices of Residence Life and The Center for Health and Counseling
Services to insure that many programs have the following programmatic
component:
a) Working with the center for Health and Counseling Services
b) A Student Development Transcript eligibility component
c) Insuring the ADA regulations are adhered to in terms of
publicizing events
The internship is geared for students seeking a career in Student
Activities or Student Development. A background or interest in the
area of Women's Studies would be an added benefit. Skills that will
be taught will include: programming, budgeting, evaluation, computer
software applications (information systems, desktop publishing, word
processing, database management, internet and web home page
design).
The intern will be expected to share coverage of weekend and evening
programs with the Coordinator of Student Activities: and attend
weekly staff training and development sessions.
Periodic meetings with supervisor(s) will be made to review progress
and apply what has been learned in respect to the student personnel
point of view.
Eligibility: Graduating seniors currently enrolled in a graduate
program or those graduate students currently enrolled in a graduate
program in counseling or student Personnel or related fields.
Compensation range: $ 5,000 stipend / 20.0 hrs per week
On campus apartment
TYPICAL BREAKDOWN OF HOURS PER WEEK:
2.0 hrs for weekly meetings (staff & supervisor)
5.0 hrs for office hours (planning)
3.0 hrs for campus wide planning meetings
10.0 hrs for evening & weekend programming coverage
