(for the Student Activities section of the class)
Members of the class who are enrolled in the Student Activities section of the class are expected to submit a research quality paper on an aspect of collegiate life. A proposal of the topic is due on September 29th, the first draft is due on November 3rd and the final copy is due on December 1st. The paper should be a combination of research based on journals, publications or textbooks (all cited MLA style) and interviews with faculty/staff and students associated with the specific topic.
For example, you might choose to do a paper on the topic of Binge Drinking on Campus. You could cite articles from Time Magazine, the New York Times, recent governmental online sources and recent books on the topic of drinking on campus. You would also interview Cory Rosenkranz or Dr. Al Frech from the Center for Health and Counseling Services and the president of DARE or a student leader who feels the whole issue is being blown out of proportion.
The paper should be minimum length 7 pages, or 2500 words (make sure to include a word count at the end of your paper)double spaced in Times Roman 12 point with 1" margins on all sides. There should be a cover sheet with the title on the center of your page. Your social security number ( NO name) and date should be on the bottom corner, flush right.
