Stephen Klein's Home Page

Hello and welcome to my home page. I'm glad you're here. Please, let me introduce myself. My name, as you already know, is Stephen Klein, and no, I'm not related to Calvin or Ann. I am related to Wendy, my wife, and Leslie and Jeff our children. We moved to New Jersey from Massachusetts in 1980, and we reside in Oakland NJ. We chose Oakland because of its beautiful country setting, excellent schools, and close proximity to the College. I have been teaching and consulting in the fields of computing and information systems/technology for more than 35 years. I consider myself a "win-win" teacher and a facilitator in the learning process. I subscribe to the CAP (Courage, Attitude, and Perseverance) principle in life and try to instill these qualities in my students. Also, as a New Englander, I’m an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

As a Professor of Information Systems at Ramapo College of New Jersey in the Anisfield School of Business (ASB), I teach introductory and advanced information systems and technology (IS/IT) courses. My areas of interest include computer literacy, programming languages, database management systems, management information systems and the application of information technology to the solution of business problems. As an IT consultant, the currency of my consulting experiences ensures that my students are studying and learning emerging information technologies.

In 1990, I had the honor and privilege of conducting a computing workshop in Volgograd, Soviet Union. In 1994, I was invited to Ningbo, Peoples Republic of China, where I conducted a computing workshop for accountants. Both of these experiences provided me with invaluable knowledge about the countries, their peoples and cultures, and their computing environments. I developed friendships which endure today.

In the Winter of 2005, I traveled with two ASB faculty colleagues and 38 students on a Study Abroad Program to Italy. The 13-day trip to Venice, Florence, and Rome, was an educationally and a culturally rewarding experience for all. I encourage my students to enroll in Study Abroad and Cooperative Education courses.
