I graduated from Boston Conservatory of Music, and decided
to stay in the
Boston area. Boston is filled with people who come from other places and
never leave, and I love the tempo of the city. It has everything New York
City has, but on a much smaller and more manageable scale. I've even
become an avid Red Sox fan!
I have been teaching middle school music in the Newton (MA) public schools
since 1979, and earned a Masters degree in education at Boston College in
1993. I got my inspiration from Doc Carney, who drove me to my college
interview and audition in the CHS drivers ed car. I owe my career to him
and think of him often in my teaching.
We moved to our home in Wellesley the day John Lennon died, and have been
fixing it up ever since. My wife Susan and I have four children;
Christine is a PhD candidate in immunology at U. Conn; Andrew is a
freshman at Dean College in Franklin, MA; Caroline is a sophomore in high
school; and Priscilla is a 7th grader (as of Oct. 2004)
I tune and repair pianos, sing in my parish choir, play bass in community
orchestras and guitar in local bands, like to go to Nauset Beach on Cape
Cod, and live and die with the Boston Red Sox. I have many happy memories
of my time at Clarkstown and I am looking forward to our next reunion.
